Absolutely Brilliant Band Act!

ABBA Gold

Abba Gold, one of the top Abba tribute bands in the UK, flabbaghasted a sell-out audience in the beautifully decorated Winsford Village Hall on Friday 25th October with their pitch-perfect renditions of 20 of Abba’s best known songs.
Right from the first chords of their opening number Dancing Queen, all four Abba Gold members showed off their musical and singing talents and the audience reciprocated as they got up off their chairs and danced the night away, in their own particular way, mimicking all the lyrics as if it was yesterday. We lost count of the number of costume changes but Karen & Jenny who were the two “A”‘s, must have had at least half a dozen during two sets of 50 minutes each.
The atmosphere was electric, fuelled by the fabbalous music as well as the well-stocked bar! It really was the way to get the village rocking again as the vast majority of the attendees were from Winsford enjoying the fantastic facility which is the Winsford Village Hall. Congratulations to the many who came in fancy dress….whatever the costume!
Like the start of the concert, Abba Gold finished their second set with Dancing Queen and after a few words of thank-you were back on the road, having taken 8 hours to get to the village and 7 hours back! They must have been abbasolutely knocked out!
Thanks to all of those who helped decorate, serve and clean up afterwards, namely the “A” Team of Steve & Bernadette Hunt, Beverley Flanagan, Martin & Orla Jones,David & Jayne Luscott and Dave Williams, and a special mention to John French for the lighting. They all did a great job.
The evening raised £703 which will be split between The Exmoor Youth Project and The South West Children’s Hospice.
The problem with such an enjoyable evening is that it’s far too soon over and by 11 pm we were clearing up and having the last dregs of wine in the kitchen.
It is not an understatement to report that the post gig feedback has been excellent, and everyone is clamouring for more…well…the next act is already booked for end of first quarter 2020 so watch out for the posters in the New Year. The act is described roundly as “the best tribute act of its kind in the world”!
